AIDA3 Advanced Freediving Course

After completing the AIDA2 course, you can dive to 12 meters independently and hold your breath for more than two minutes. In the AIDA3 course, you will complete the transition from entry to entry. We will be exposed to more advanced free diving techniques and deepen your understanding of theory and technology for four days. You will learn new ear pressure balance techniques, adjust the weight and buoyancy during deep diving, plan your own training, free fall during deep diving, etc. Make diving more comfortable and safer for yourself and your friends. Completing the AIDA3 course will allow you to reach a depth of more than 24 meters, and you can easily cope with most spearfishing, and fun dive, abalone and lobster fishing.

After the course you will achieve:

  1. CWTB(constant weight): 24-30M

  2. STA( static apnea): 2:45

  3. DYNB (dynamic finned): 55m

  4. Theoretical exam pass: 75%

Prerequisites before the course:

  1. Completed AIDA2 or equivalent freediving certification

  2. 18 years and above (or 16 years and above with family member’s signature)

Course Schedule

The AIDA3 course lasts for 4 days. Depending on the class situation, the 4-day course can be split into multiple days to complete, and the time arrangement is more flexible than AIDA2. The course includes four parts: theory class, confined water, open water, theory review and examination. After successfully completing the 4 parts, you will obtain the AIDA3 freediver certificate issued by AIDA, which is universal worldwide. With AIDA3, you can cover almost all leisure free diving scenarios. With the certificate, you can participate in free diving activities in all parts of the world, and explore the ocean in the safest way!

Confined Water Session
Location:Claremont/Victoria Park

Confined Water 1 (4 hours x 1 session) Teaching and testing free diving pool-related techniques in the swimming pool. Experience monofin and no fin.

Confined Water 2 (4 hours x 1 session) Learn and develop a carbon dioxide tolerance table, and test it in the pool and on land. The second day's content can be split into two days.

8:30-12:30
Open Water 1, 2 Teaching and Assessment, Theory 2
Location: Rockingham

Open Water 1 and 2 (2 hours x 2 sessions) mainly test AIDA3 rescue and buddy up,  practice and test neutral buoyancy, and improve duck style and rope climbing skills. Our goal in Rockingham is to reach 20 meters.

Q&A

  1. Can I spread out the theoretical lessons? Because of the special nature of the AIDA3 course, you can discuss with your classmates and spread out the lessons.

  2. What can I learn? After four days of learning, I can hold my breath for more than 2 minutes and 45 seconds, and dive to a depth of 24-30 meters*

  3. What if you don't have transportation to the reservoir? The reservoir is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away from downtown Perth. We can usually share a car with other friends. If you have enough time, we encourage everyone to spend the night together in a camp near the reservoir. You can go fishing and have a BBQ at night.

  4. What should I prepare in advance: We no longer provide free equipment for AIDA3 courses, but you can choose to rent it, or consider buying your own equipment. You need to master the Franzo ear pressure balance technique before class.

  5. What if you fail the test? If you use the correct Franzoial pressure balance technique in AIDA2, the pass rate of AIDA3 is relatively high.

  6. *Depends on individual learning ability
